Pastor Laster's leadership role with Black Men United and his dedicated community involvement earned him the heartfelt gratitude of countless community members, as well as many awards and recognition from public officials and private organizations over the years.
His position as Executive Director of the Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention for the City of San Diego provided Pastor Laster another avenue to aid and support his beloved community. Student Minister Muhammad has earned many awards and public recognition, as well as a seat on various advisory panels and advocate groups. His expertise includes criminal justice issues, education and health disparities, civic engagement, and much more, making him a much sought after resource for clergy, elected officials, community based organizations, and the citizen at large. Pastor Laster and Student Minister Muhammad had forged a strong and lasting friendship based upon their love of God and mutual dedication to the upliftment of humanity.
